Wisdom Wednesday~In God's Arms

Read Psalm 94:14-23
[God] has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

-Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

I had never thought that one day I would live alone, without my dearly loved husband. But it happened; he died young, and I had to get used to new circumstances and to a new focus for my life.
Once when I was feeling especially lonely, I opened my Bible, certain that God would comfort me. I can't remember what passage I read, but I remember feeling as if I were folded in God's arms. I will never forget that loving and tender touch and how I was filled with a joy that only beloved people receive.

We can't ever be truly alone because God offers us a great gift: rich and abundant love. This love is unconditional and endless. Our Savior is much closer to us than anyone in this world could ever be.

Holy Father, thank you for comforting us when we feel lonely. Help us to feel your presence and to know that you will stay close to us every day. We pray as Jesus taught us, saying, "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil."* Amen.

John 3:16-17

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
