In today's economy, it's hard to find ways to entertain yourself thats not overly expensive. One of my favorite things to do is simply going out to eat at a nice restaurant. Unfortunately, to feed four people and leave a tip, and pay for the gas to get there (it counts too!) we would lose a nice chunk out of our pockets.
Tonight, play restaurant with your kids. Instead of eating out, fix a fancy dinner at home. Set the table with the best dishes and candles. Have everybody dress up and pretend to be eating out, practicing table and restaurant manners.
My daughter loves to pretend shes a waitress, so this would be really fun for her. Just last night she asked to set the table herself so she could surprise her Daddy.
